I have a server version and a workstation version. Which one should I install Aspect Linked on?
- The Aspect Linked program should be installed on the workstation. Since the workstation links back to the server, running it on the workstation will enable you to upgrade both copies as well as license both.
I have multiple workstations. Which one should I install Aspect Linked on?
- The Aspect Linked program should be installed on a primary workstation. Since the primary workstation links back to the server, running it on the primary workstation will enable you to upgrade ALL copies as well as license the server and the primary workstation. However, if you more than one workstation, the install will only upgrade the other clients, it will not license them. Therefore, you will need to contact support to obtain more licenses.
I receive an "out of memory" notification from Java when trying to load Aspect Linked.
- You may receive this notice because of your firewall or antivirus setting. Try turning them off for the install process or adding javaw.exe as well as aspect-software.net and aspect-server.com to the approved list.
- You may also receive this notice if your pagesys or memory settings are incorrectly allocated in Windows. Try to increase the pagesys file by right clicking on my computer, then choose properties. Once the window opens, choose advanced and then choose performance options. Here you can increase the pagesys file based on the recommendation. Typically it should equal the amount of ram or set to "let windows manage."
What browsers can I use to download Aspect Linked?
- The Aspect Linked program can be downloaded using Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Note, with certain browers, such as Firefox, you will need to download and enable the "JAVA Quick Starter" add-on so Aspect Linked will run. Once you enable the add-on, you will be able to install Aspect Linked.
When installing Linked, I get a notice that "More than one copy of Aspect was found..." and there is a drop down box to select the proper folder.
- The Aspect Linked program by default will search for a previous version of Aspect. Sometimes there are backup copies and multiple installation instances. In order to determine the proper folder, right click on your Aspect icon on the desktop and choose properties. Under the "target" you will find the proper folder.
